Desmond Maruziva

Desmond practices primarily in summary, youth and indictable crime and has experience in a range of crime matters. He appears regularly as a solicitor advocate in the Magistrates’ Courts and County Courts of Victoria. Desmond often appears as instructing solicitor in County Court proceedings, and has experience in prosecutions brought by Victoria Police, Officer of Public Prosecutions, Councils, Department of Transport and other entities.
Before his admission to legal practice in 2016, Desmond worked as a psychiatric clinician in different areas including forensic psychiatry in the UK and Australia. He has worked in the social justice space including community legal centers and Victoria Legal Aid. He has practiced in other areas of law such as family, civil, traffic and infringement, victims of crime, personal safety intervention orders, family violence intervention orders, commercial law, debt recovery, Wills and probate.
Desmond holds a Bachelor of Laws from Charles Darwin University and Master of Laws from The University of Melbourne and completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with Leo Cussens.
